Walking Across America

“I’m walking across the U.S. because I got tired of making other people’s dreams come true while mine stood idly by and patiently waited.”

On May 21, 2019 Michael Gmur decided he was going to walk across America.

For the past six years, Michael has been working as an actor in Los Angeles. After being turned down for a specific role, he had an “ah-ha” moment, realizing he wasn’t being the difference he wanted to see in the world. It was in that moment he decided to become that difference and to stop holding himself back.

Three weeks later, on June 8, Michael dipped his toes into the Atlantic Ocean in Portland, Maine and then promptly turned around to begin his journey to San Diego.

Michael is walking to raise money for homeless veterans. He is a veteran himself, having served in the United States Marine Corps from 2006 to 2010 and was deployed in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. Funds raised from his walk will be donated to Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

Portland, Maine to San Diego is quite the journey and we’re proud to say Michael’s shoes of choice for his walk are the Topo Athletic Terraventure 2!

Michael reached out to us after putting over 800 miles on his first pair. If walking 800 miles impresses you, that isn’t all, joining Michael on his walk is his cart, which he named Bernadine and weighs about 100 pounds. After learning about his journey and cause, we were excited to help him complete the rest of his walk.

Why is the Terraventure 2 Michael’s shoe of choice? Check out his unboxing video to learn why he loves them and why they’re the perfect fit for his journey across America.
